Practicing Wicca, Witchcraft, or Paganism in College can be a harrowing experience. There are very few resources that help college students find ways to adapt to their unique situation. This is one of those few resources. However, even those who are not in college may find a few ideas for their own practices within the following essays. Please note I know that the words "Wiccan," "Pagan," and "Witch" are not interchangable...however, I am Wiccan, so there tends to be a natural Wiccan bias in my writings. However, you may find that you can adapt many of the suggestions here even if you follow a different path. School Regulations and Wicca - So you're in college...how do you deal with wanting candles and incense in your dorm? Or ritual blades? Following your school rules and practicing your religion should not be at odds... Dealing with Roommates - Probably the topic that most Wiccans heading off to college fear most...living with someone who won't understand. Finding Altar Space - In a dorm room the size of a small closet, it's hard to have enough space for an altar. Here are some tips and suggestions to help you out. All About Tools - Tools...what they are, what they do, how to get them, and how to make them... Adapting a Ritual to College: The Ritual - Putting it all together with a personal touch? This article provides an outline of what we do and why so you can adapt your ritual to suit your needs. Dealing with Discrimination - You may find more open-minded people in college, but you find those who are more closed-minded, too. Learn how to handle the worst of them with a smile. Where to Shop - You might have a Pagan or New Age shop around the corner, or maybe the only thing you have is a corner grocery store. Since you probably don't have the room or skills to make everything you may want or need, here are some ways to fill in the gaps for your shopping needs. Studying Abroad - Living in a different country for a semester or a year can be scary! How do you tote your religion with you when you're not even sure the water is drinkable? Here are some suggestions.... Starting a Group - Every campus should have a Pagan group...but that doesn't mean there is one. Here are some ideas to get started. Group Advertising Suggestions - Now your group is official...you could shout "COME JOIN OUR WITCH GROUP!" to get new members, but it probably won't go over too well with people on campus. Here are some other possibilities to attract the attention of potential members. Group Meeting Suggestions - You have a group, you have members...now what do you talk about? To keep people interested, you need interesting topics. Here are some suggestions that may help get you started. Solitary Sabbat Activities - Being a Solitary in college isn't easy, especially when all the books give great ideas for the sabbats that are impossible in a college atmosphere...that doesn't mean you can't celebrate at all! Group Sabbat Activities - Sabbats are great ways to draw in more interest and encourage the fence-sitters to become more involved. Not only are there ideas for rituals on this page, but also ideas for "regular" activities to celebrate the season, as well!
