May 26, 2004--A Winner...It's You. For the second year in a row, I won a prize in the raffle at the NC Renaissance Faire. Yay me! Last year I won a set of 5 notecards with artwork from a Faerie quilt by Waltzing Dog. I have yet to use them. They're too beautiful to use, so I think I'd rather frame them.

This year I won a pair of earrings by Uncommon Adornments. They're the Gold Celtic Creature earrings you see in the linked picture. I couldn't tell if they were birds or hounds, but lo and behold, the website describes them by saying:

The wearer defines the identity of this Celtic creature. The Celts believed that they could shape-shift into animals and birds because all life is interconnected.

So I guess I was right on both accounts.

A new book was brought to my attention, and the reviews have been sparkling so far. I think I'm going to try to find a copy of The Second Circle: Tools for the Advancing Pagan and give it a read. I've been buying slews of books from my bookstore to at least have copies in my home library, but every time I try to sit down and read one so I can give an educated opinion on them and possibly do a review I get bored fast. So I have this stack of half-started books piled up beside my bed, and I think I need to file them back on my bookshelf again and start from the beginning. The Second Circle sounds a little more inspiring than anything else I have at the moment.

Motivation always seems to be the sticking point for me. I feel like a bad Pagan because a Sabbat rolls around and I just don't feel like doing a ritual, or the Pagan Event Of The Century (TM) comes to town and I have no interest in going. I've been snug in my solitary little world lately. I have the desire to break out of this cycle, but the motivation just isn't there. I've even debated joining a Pagan on-line school in the hopes that maybe if I pay for something that leads to ordination I will be more inclined to actually go through it all. At the same time, I've been pretty busy lately and also been saving money, so now would not be the moment to invest in something that I may or may not accomplish for one reason (money) or the other (time).

So that's life in a nutshell. I'm looking forward to my birthday rolling around again because I'll have over a week off of work, and Goddess knows I could use the vacation. We might be going up to Busch Gardens again, but then again there's the issue of wanting to save money.

Oh, and speaking of which, a hearty THANK YOU again to the folks who have been purchasing books through this site. The meager commission has paid for yet another month of webhosting. Every little bit helps! For the record, that is a big help in that whole motivation issue....

May 7, 2004--Mmmm...Beltane And God/dess has a wicked sense of humor. It was that time of the month for me on Beltane. Oh well. That's probably a good thing.

I had a business meeting this week, and it's strange to drive 3 1/2 hours in a westerly direction to new altitudes, and see how different the weather can be. Home was rainy but comfortably cool. A few hours later it was drier and frickin' freezing, with even rumors of ice and frost overnight. Come back home a few days later, and it's up to 80 degrees or so and the sun is blazing. So I'm not quite sure what season it is anymore, except that I am aware that hurricane season is coming up again. Wee!

K'Tok and I recently got the 4th DVD of Witch Hunter Robin, for those of you who like anime and are looking for something good to watch. Please note that the word "witch" is translated a little differently, and keep in mind that Robin is a witch, herself. They're not going after Wiccan witches if you're looking to get your panties in a bundle. The premise: A group of people are witch hunters, out to capture (not kill, but that's another issue) witches who harm others via their powers. Some of the team have powers, themselves. The animation is beautiful, and one thing I'm incredibly happy about is that the creators of the show decided that Robin will NEVER be portrayed as "cute" like the big-eyed, happy-faced characters you see in other anime. I've been enjoying it so far, and have managed to not watch it on Adult Swim on Cartoon Network. I think it's not showing at the moment, but knowing Adult Swim, Robin will be back. I hate having to wait until the next DVD comes out.

K'Tok's birthday is in two weeks, and we will be spending some time up at his folks' house. I love going up there. So very relaxing! And that's always good to try to clear the mind and possibly write some more...
