Old Front Page News - July 2004

July 23, 2004--Linky Dinks... I feel so embarassed. I finally went through my in-box and updated all the links that had been sent to me...

...since last December. *cough cough* Whoops!

The good news is, that took out about 40 e-mails of just submitted links. My inbox is down to about 85 e-mails that I've squirreled away, and any spam that comes in in the meantime. So go check out the Links Section and browse away. If by any chance you submitted a link and don't see it, it could have either gotten nixed in the daily spam deletion, did not come through, or was not complete so I could not find your link. (For example, I did get one that was only linked to Geocities, but no link to their site within Geocities.)

In other news, I'm still working on the questions for the two books in the book discussions on the Forum. It's slow going, but that's mostly because I've been busy. I'm going to get through both books, then probably compile the questions and information and post them elsewhere on the site. We'll see what happens when I get through them, though.

That's really about it. Lughnasadh is coming up, and it's still hot as Hades around here. That means indoor rituals. You can take a shower, feel all fresh and clean, and then walk outside in the heat and humidity and immediately feel sticky again. Gotta love being in the South.

Yes, I like the outdoors...but right now I'm going to lounge in a cool bath with the air conditioning set on full blast for a while.

July 9, 2004--Dedicated to my favorite professor that I never had... I received my university's news magazine about a week ago and found out that Professor Hadas died recently. I always wanted to take one of his classes. In particular, I wanted to take his Bible as Literature class, which was held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays right after lunch. Unfortuantely, I had my Marketing class during that period on Mondays and Wednesdays, so I was out of luck. it's unfortunate...I sat in on a few of the Friday classes, and he was a great teacher. Because he was my best friend's advisor, I got to meet him a few times outside of that class. He was just one of those professors that had a way with students, while encouraging the learning process. He will be missed dearly.

It was also about 4 years ago (on the 7th to be exact) that my mom died. I've been thinking about her a lot recently. So many times I've wanted to share something with her, or ask her advice, or just be there...and I can't. Not physically, anyway. But I'm not sad and bawling my eyes out. It just feels odd that it's only been 4 years. It seems like yesterday, but it also seems like a lifetime ago.

As Death from the Sandman series always says, "You get the same thing everyone gets. You get a lifetime." I'm glad to know that my mom and Dr. Hadas both got the chance to use their lives to make a change in others. I just want to be able to say I've done the same when my time comes.

This is just a short post...had to share a few thoughts because I can. The questions for Chapters 3 and 4 for the two book discussions are posted on the forum. I need to get to bed now.
