Old Front Page News - November 2002

November 26, 2002--One more "one other thing": I really truly am working on posting new links! I have submitted links stretching back to July that have not yet been posted...I'm trying to re-organize the Links section again (ie: Do I add a page just for Pagan merchants? How about for authors?) and it seems like every submission adds a new definition to that section. I haven't forgotten you, just been a little wrapped up in converting the site to the new design. (You knew I had to mention that in *one* of these posts, didn't you?)

November 26, 2002--Oh, and one other thing...(It's 2 am and I'm a nutcase.) I woke up from a much-needed nap about 2 hours ago, and have been writing more or less ever since then. So I have to bring up this topic...I've had quite a few people writing for "information" (don't tempt me to send you a huge zip file about information on llamas! Be specific!) which is usually a vague reference to "information on Wicca, spells, or about this site." Please please please please *PLEASE* take the time to read the pages here first! Over four years of work has been put into the site, and a good majority of the site is text. All of the informative pages are even printable, too, if that's a help. I love e-mail as much as the next person, but as the only person who runs this site (with a full-time job and a semblance of a social life), I usually don't have the time to respond to all the requests for "information" that has been here since the beginning. Thank you for listening. Goodnight. (Hallelujah for a day off tomorrow!)

November 26, 2002--"When Rhaevyn was in Egypt laaaand... Let my Rhaevyn gooooo...." I've had that scene from the movie "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" stuck in my head for about a week now. You know the one...Cameron's sick as a dog and doesn't want to help Ferris play hooky, but gets his arm twisted anyway. He sings the song as he sits helpless in his car, trying to convince himself not to do it. Don't know what I'm talking about? Well, geez, man, go rent the frickin' movie! Yeah, I was a Child of the 80's and darn proud of it!

So yeah, I get that helpless feeling every so often. Sometimes it's because of work, sometimes because of website hassles, sometimes because of neighbors...you know, all those daily stresses that go on in life. But hey, that's just a part of living, I guess! Time to just pound the steering wheel, and get on with it.

Do I have a point to this post? Nah, not really. Just had to babble a bit.

Our brand new projection tv beside the old tv. I'm so excited to use it!November 21, 2002--Typo fixed. If you didn't see it, don't worry about it. *grin* But geez, K'Tok, are you happy yet? No? Just remember what awaits you at home...

Yes, that's our new baby. I just can't wait to order a pizza, pop in the extended version of Load of the Wings...*ahem* Lord of the Rings, and veg out for a while. It will be even better once the entertainment center is delivered, too.

Yes, I'm being a tease on purpose. This Wiccan is very fond of technology!

November 18, 2002--Yeah yeah yeah, I know...update, dangit! Okay, so it's been a while since I've done an update here. Let me put it this way, though...there are well over 200 files on this site to transfer to the new design. Then there are new pages that need to be created, files need to be moved around, etc. all in the holy name of organization.

I am *not* the most organized person in the world. *grin* But I'm getting better! I think I'd like to go for a walk now. I feel happy...I feel happy...I feel....

Anyway some news:

November 10, we hit 3000 hits to the front page! WOOHOO!!! You have no idea how happy that makes me! Thanks to EVERYONE for recommending the link to others, and visiting for updates! More will be coming soon!

November 12, I wrote out the last check to pay off my student loans! Yes, it can be done...though sometimes it involves selling an arm, a leg, your soul, and your future first child to those evil deities who possess the powers of making or breaking your credit record. But I officially own my "Will Work for Food" sign, now.

November 13, was supposed to serve jury duty, but I lucked out...juror numbers 1-150 were called, while 151-198 were released. I was 168. I actually would like to serve on a jury sometime...just not when we're about to launch into the busiest season for retail and there's always the possibility that I could pull a 10+-day civil case while we're understaffed.

November 16, K'Tok and I went to Best Buy (again) to drool over the projection tv's. We then decided to go for it, and I won't enjoy even a full month free of extra payments. But at least I'll be able to enjoy writing out more checks while watching the extended version of Lord of the Rings on a 47" wide-screen projection tv in a kick-ass entertainment system with the 5-1 surround sound in the coziness of our apartment. It's worth it! *L*

November 18, was directed to the Oh My Gods! comic strip...holy geez, you have to read this! Good stuff! Shivian, you're now my hero! And there's a lot for newbies to learn, too... *evil grin* While I'm directing you to cool sites, I still love ShanMonster's Page, too.

Some other time in November, I also picked up a CD called "Faeries: A Musical Companion to the Art of Brian Froud." Wow! Good stuff to drive to! Zipping down I-40 while listening to "Undistracted" is loads of fun...and the real reason I got the CD was because it had liner notes written by Neil Gaiman. I also got the new Tori Amos CD, "Scarlet's Walk." For some odd reason, the stickers in the collector's edition just made me so happy. *grin*

Anyway, as you can tell, I've been pretty busy. And Kim...thanks for visiting! You get back to work, too! ;)

November 6, 2002--Happy New Year! After a few more hassles, frustrations, and nearly pitching my laptop out the window, the new version of the site has finally been developed, and is now in the process of having all the files moved over. Yay templates! I'll be sure to keep you updated on the progress, but I hope you like the final result. Let's put it this way...I'm tired of frames. I didn't want to put the site into frames in the first place, but I didn't have any ideas at the time. Now I'm taking them out of frames. I may wind up giving you the option of choosing to be in frames or not, but that will be MUCH later.

We should be hitting 3000 hits this week! Thanks to those who have been loyal readers, and double thanks to those who have passed the URL on to others! I moved CollegeWicca.com to its own URL only last January...I'm hoping we can average at least 10 hits per day for this first year here...and move up next year!

Must go to bed now...I hope everyone had a great Samhain!
