| After reading all my
opinions and thoughts on this website, you may be wondering who the heck
I am, what I do in real life, if I have a life at all, and why I'm bothering
to put up this page. So here's a little about me: At the time of this writing, I'm a 20-something year old college grad. (I'd put my age, but I keep forgetting to update--my birthday is June 20, 1978 if you want to do the math!) I graduated in December, 2000 after 4 and a half years of school, in French and Business. I spent a year in France, and it was absolutely AMAZING. *grin* I'm looking for a job where I can use both my business skills and my fluency in French. I would like to be a buyer...but more on that in a few paragraphs. I adore animals, especially birds. I would love to get a falconry license and be able to work with birds regularly. Gee...my handle is Rhaevyn and I like birds...coincidence? I worked at an aviary with an avian vet at home (in North Carolina), and at school (Missouri) I volunteered at a Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center. I'd also like to breed birds sometime, but that'll have to wait until I have lots of money and the time and space to work. At school, I had a wide range of activities. I was a varsity coxswain on our crew team (In other words, the little windbag with the Napolean Complex sitting in a long boat and making the rowers sweat. Ah, I love my job!) and I have won a couple of medals for both rowing and coxing. There's nothing better than seeing the sun rise over the "mountain" beside the lake where we practice! I was one of the "demi-goddesses" of our Campus Pagan group that kept the club alive. Because of these activites, I got to participate in Student Group Council (not the same as a student government group) and we're a pretty vocal group at these meetings. In fact, we often have two or three members of Silver Crescent at SGC while other groups have only 1 representative, so we make up a large percentage of the meetings when very few groups take advantage of SGC. *grin* My music/tv/film tastes are pretty ecclectic. I adore Stevie Nicks and her music, so I often have one of her (including Fleetwood Mac) CD's in a player somewhere. Tori Amos is also in constant rotation. I also enjoy Garbage (including Shirley Manson's original band, Angelfish), Stabbing Westward, and James (the band) and listen to those. Sometimes I put in a classical CD, sometimes White Zombie. Depends on my mood. I love watching X-Files, Daria, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, though I rarely get to watch any of those (save for Buffy...we do our best to schedule around it. *L*). I tend to watch "The Crow" over and over, only to be replaced by "Dangerous Beauty" on occasion. I also like the Kevin Smith movies ("Clerks," "MallRats," and "Chasing Amy," and "Dogma"), "Tank Girl," "The Princess Bride," "The Three Musketeers," and a bunch of other, assorted movies. I dress quite casually, though I do get in moods sometimes. I've been known to go dressed in Goth or more of a Renaissance style. But usually it's just jeans and whatever shirt looks comfortable at the time. For business purposes, I tend to go French-"conservative"...it's hard to tell if a person is Goth in France because EVERYONE seems to wear black at all times. Of course, right now I'm supposed to wear my company's brand of clothing. I manage a factory outlet of a company that has a high-end line of women's clothing. We get decent discounts, and it's a lot of fun working in a place where we have beautiful, expensive clothes for decent prices. Since one of my hobbies is sewing, it's nice to work in a place where you have many examples of fine fabrics and exquisite details...it's inspirational to my sewing skills and I've learned a lot that I've adopted for making my Ren Faire costumes. Speaking of Renaissance, I love Ren Faires. I went to the first official St. Louis Ren Faire as well have been to Southern California and Cincinatti, to name a few. Keep your eye out for me! Finally, pictures tell about a person is more than I can describe. They are at the bottom of the page. The one on the left is pretty old...it was one of my senior portraits from high school. Most of the time, I'm the one behind the camera. The one on the right was taken when my parents visited me in Paris in May 2000, so it's a little more up-to-date. Any other miscellaneous information: Astrologically, I'm a Gemini/Cancer cusp Sun sign, Sagittarius/Capricorn cusp Moon, and Scorpio Ascendant. Fun for me. *wry grin* Chinese Horoscope, I'm a Horse. Blond hair, blue eyes, 5'5", approx. 125 lbs...my dad is in North Carolina holding down the fort, my older brother is travelling the world with the US Navy. I made this web site because I felt that college students are often left out of Wiccan/Pagan circles, yet we have our own set of problems to deal with that no one else can answer. After searching the web all over for information to answer my own questions, I decided to make this web page. SOMEone's gotta do it! That's about it for me. Any questions? Comments? (Wanna see my brother's picture and then demand to know his e-mail address so you can send him love letters? *grin*) Feel free to e-mail me. *smile* Always, -Rhaevyn
