I Don't Care: A Personal Rant

At the risk of sounding cold, callous, and apathetic, I must get something off my chest: I am none of the above adjectives, but it is true that in some areas, I just don't care.

I don't care if a person chooses to believe in one religion over another, or worship the Goddess and not the God, or any other form of following a religion. It does not affect me. I will not say it's right or wrong. I will not place one religion over another, or insult another religion just because I do not follow it. You alone can make those decisions for yourself.

I don't care to give much sympathy when a person who has been warned against certain spells has a backfire and s/he receives the karmic spankings that s/he's due.

I don't care if a person decided to start a coven with a bunch of friends and there are petty arguments over who gets to hold the athame, how the ritual is written, or what chants are used. Each group has its own personality and as an outsider I cannot make a judgment.

I don't care how a person chooses to set up his/her altar, what tools s/he chooses to use, or what types of meditation works best for him/her. Each person is different, and while I can say what has and has not worked for me, I cannot instruct a person on what methods s/he will find useful.

I don't care what name a person chooses as his/her magickal name. I cannot name you, either, if I don't know you. You know yourself best.

These are just a few issues I've seen people ask about on message boards, in e-mail lists, through personal e-mail, and other forums. I have no right to make a decision on what is right or wrong for another person. That is not my job.

But to show wht I do care about and that I care at all, I have created this website. I do care that people are educated enough about Wicca so they can make decisions on if it suits them or not, but I never say anywhere on this site that my way is the only way to do things.

I care to present ideas and options. I care to help start the brainstorming process to help people find what works best for them. If people choose to begin a group I care that they know the hard work involved as well as the fun. I care to at least give warnings about playing with magick. I care enough that I won't post spells because I don't want them to backfire on a person.

I care about my beliefs and my religion. I care to present them to the public in a positive manner. I do not care to be taken for granted, manipulated, or walked on.

I give this site to you to show you I care. It is my gift. What you care to do with it is up to you. Take care of yourself, too.
